Thesis:
The effectiveness of social skills training on academic emotions and academic adjustment of female junior high school students in Mashhad.
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of social skills training on academic emotions and academic adjustment of female junior high school students in Mashhad. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of the study included female junior high school students in Mashhad in the relevant academic year, from whom 32 people were selected using a convenience sampling method and randomly assigned to two experimental groups (16 people) and control groups (16 people). Data collection tools included the Progress Emotions Questionnaire by Pakran et al. and the Student Adjustment Questionnaire by Sinha and Singh (1993). After the pre-test, the experimental group participated in a social skills training program based on a 12-session protocol, while the control group did not receive any intervention. After the end of the training sessions, both groups were given a post-test. Descriptive statistics including mean and standard deviation were used to analyze the data, as well as inferential statistics tests including multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) and univariate analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). The results of the study showed that social skills training had a significant effect on the combination of variables of academic emotions and academic adjustment. The results of the analysis of covariance also showed that social skills training improved students' academic emotions and increased their academic adjustment. In other words, students who participated in the social skills training program had more positive academic emotions and higher academic adjustment compared to students in the control group. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that social skills training can be used as one of the effective educational and psychological interventions in promoting students' academic emotions and academic adjustment and help improve their emotional experiences and adaptation to the school environment.
