Optimal Application of Electric Vehicle and Renewable Energy in Distribution Network Using Dragonfly Algorithm

In this thesis, the optimal use of electric car parking along with renewable energies including solar panels and wind turbines in a 33-axis radial distribution network is being investigated. The purpose of the study is to determine the location and optimal capacity of energy sources and parking spaces in the grid to supply the load using the new Dragonfly (DA) algorithm. The objective function of the problem is to minimize the cost of power losses, the cost of utilizing wind and solar resources, the cost of non-delivery, the cost of charging and discharging electric parking and the cost of purchasing power from the upstream network. The constraints of the problem include network utilization constraints, permissible power capacity of wind and solar units, and the number of electric car parking spaces. In this study, the amount of active power losses, minimum network voltage, network voltage profile, power received from the upstream network and power generation of power sources and electric parking places are evaluated before and after the optimal application in the network. The simulation results have shown that the dragonfly algorithm is able to determine the optimal location and capacity of energy sources and electrical parking in the network, thus improving network characteristics. The results show that the optimal use of renewable energy sources and electric parking places a significant reduction in power losses in the distribution network Also, the voltage oscillations of the bus bases have improved considerably. Also, the results indicate that the purchasing power of the upstream network has been reduced by generating energy from renewable sources and electrical parking
