Preparation of nanocapsule from ethanol extract of Mentha longifolia using Arabic gum٫ and study on its antibacterial and antioxidant activity

Today, not only in Iran but also around the world, the tendency to herbal medicine has increased. Medicinal plants are rich in compounds that have healing properties such as antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-cancer, etc. Due to the need to use these compounds and Its valuable benefits for humans, extraction and use of medicinal plant extracts have also been considered.Therefore, finding a suitable method to use the therapeutic properties of these plants in order to maintain its quality is essential.The aim of this study was to prepare nano-capsules containing Mentha longifolia essential oil using gum arabic and to investigate its antioxidant and antibacterial properties.For this study, Mentha longifolia essential oil was extracted and made into nano-capsules using gum arabic hydrogel. In this study, the antimicrobial effects of essential oil and nanoemulsion on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria of disk penetration were investigated.Antioxidant properties were tested using DPPH. Nanoemulsion characterization was evaluated using instrumental methods including DLS, IR, EDAX and SEM. These methods confirmed the production of nanoemulsions.
