Relationship between Emotional Divorce and Love Styles with Sexual Satisfaction: The Mediating Role of Psychological Flexibility in Divorce-Seeking Women

This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of psychological flexibility in the relationship between emotional divorce, love styles, and sexual satisfaction among divorce-seeking women. This research employed a descriptive-correlational design. The statistical population included all divorce-seeking women referred to counseling centers in Sabzevar City, from whom a sample of 200 individuals was selected using the convenience sampling method. Data were collected using: Gottman’s Emotional Divorce Scale (2008), the Psychological Flexibility Questionnaire by Dennis and Vander Wal (2010), the Sexual Satisfaction Scale by Hudson et al. (1981), and Sternberg’s Love Styles Scale (1997). Data analysis was performed using Pearson’s correlation and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), utilizing SPSS 22 and AMOS 22 software. The results from the SEM analysis revealed a significant direct effect of both love styles and emotional divorce on sexual satisfaction in divorce-seeking women (P-value<0.01). Furthermore, the Bootstrapping analysis indicated that the indirect effect of psychological flexibility on the relationship between emotional divorce and the Passionate and Committed love styles with sexual satisfaction was significant (P-value<0.01). However, the indirect effect of psychological flexibility on the relationship involving the Intimate love style and sexual satisfaction was not significant (P-value>0.05). .
