Legal Status of Welfare Organization for Mentally Retarded Persons in Iranian Law System

Abstract Much has been said about the situation of people with mental disabilities and the role of the welfare organization and the governing standards in this field , but in the Legal status of this group, a vacuum is very evident. The purpose of the present study is to dexamine the role of the welfare organization, strategic policies, objective challenges and legal criteria related to the specitic situation of this group in the community in order to benefit from general and specific laws, in addition to examining the course of approved laws and regulations. The need for legal attention to the rights of the mentally handicapped and to provide more access to the facilities and sevices of the welfare organization. In proportion to the increase in world population, one of the important challenges facing governments, especially the welfare organization, is to create social status and promote the rights of individuals and use it . In the meantiome it seems necessary to pay double attention and support to the rights of people with disabilities, deprivations and special problems.
