Evaluation of non-financial dowry in marriage jurisprudence and iranian law

Dowry is a liability that must be paid to thebride that by the groom, but because of being huge, the groom will never be able or not intend to pay it; and if he affords paying,somehow avoids it. One of the reasons in couples’ welcoming to heavy dowry is lack of correct view of the nature and role of dowry. The Holy Quran talks about dowry as portion, bee and etc. and bee is a sign of honesty and truth from man to woman in their marriage contract. Todays, the appointment of heavy dowry has become a form of custom in some marriages and has led to many problems in the family and society system. The rising age of marriage, the falling youth in sin and dishonor, the hatred and hostility in the hot heart of the family, the reductionof women into goods and the increase of non-criminal prisoners are among the consequences of heavy dowries in the society. Spiritual or non-financial dowry is a solution that can be considered alone or in combination with financial dowry, in order to provide a way for the return of spirituality and the principle of sharia to the newly begun couples’ life and to strengthen the foundation of the family. Non-financial dowry includes sort kind of thing such as (profit), (action), and (right) as well, so any right, action or benefit can be put as a dowry on a couple.
