ntegrating Capital Structure , Financial and Non - Financial Performance : Distress Prediction of SMEs
Abstract
This study examines the important variables in predicting companies' financial crisis and identifies the most important financial and non-financial variables in predicting financial crisis. After identification, the most important variables of predicting financial crisis and a model for predicting financial crisis of companies are presented. In this study, to measure the forecast of financial crisis, the measure of negative earnings per share was used, in the sense that companies with financial crisis are companies whose earnings per share are negative, and vice versa, earnings per positive indicate the absence of financial crisis. In order to investigate this, the research hypothesis was based on a statistical sample consisting of 86 companies during the years 2015 to 2019 and tested using multivariate regression models. The results show that the relationship between capital structure, number of board members and short-term debt with the financial crisis is statistically positive and significant. In contrast, the relationship between gender diversity on the board, company life, liquidity, net working capital, efficiency of operating costs, accumulated profits and the size of the company with the financial crisis is negative and significant.
