The purpose of this study was to investigate the type of research in terms of the purpose of the research and the type of research was descriptive and correlational in terms of data collection method. The research population was comprised of all elementary school students in Sabzevar city in the academic year of 96-97, totally 14000 students, of whom 374 students were selected using simple random sampling and Morgan table. Due to the wide range of statistical population, random sampling method was used. The instrument of the research was the questionnaire of the standard of motivation for development (T.M.A.) Hermanns (1977), the self-regulatory questionnaire (SRQ-A) by Connel and Ryan (1987) and the Epstein, Baldwin, and Bisbev family function questionnaire (1985). The data analysis method of correlation coefficient and multivariate regression was performed using SPSS version 21 software. Findings show that the motivation of academic achievement and self-discipline can predict family functioning in elementary school students in Sabzevar city. The results of this study showed that the correlation between educational self-regulating variable and family function is equal to 0.691 at alpha significance level less than 0.01, which means that the first hypothesis of the research is acceptable. Therefore, it can be said that between family function and educational self-regulation, Positive and meaningful. Also, the correlation between the motivation of academic achievement and family function is 0.638 at alpha significance level less than 0.01 which means that there is a positive and significant relationship between these two variables. Therefore, the second hypothesis of the research is acceptable and it can be said that better functioning and better The family will have the children's educational achievement.
